NES to Fire Cannon at Pennington Bend Substation

Nashville, Tenn. – On Monday, September 14, Nashville Electric Service will begin firing a propane cannon at the Pennington Bend substation, located on Pennington Bend Road in Donelson, in an effort to deter pigeons from roosting in the substation. There have been two recent partial station outages due to the birds roosting on the steel structures inside the substation. The canon will go off between the hours of 4-7 PM daily for the next two to four weeks. The effectiveness of this operation will be evaluated weekly by NES staff.
