This week is National Nurses Week, and the NES dome is shining red for nurses everywhere. National Nurses Week spotlights the tireless efforts of nurses who work to keep communities everywhere healthy and thriving. National Nurses Week takes place from May 6 to May 12, ending on the birthday of Florence Nightingale, a pioneering British nurse, statistician and social reformer of the 1800s who is widely regarded as the founder of modern nursing. National Nurses Week was officially established in 1990 by the American Nurses Association (ANA).
This year’s theme for National Nurses Week is “The Power of Nurses™”. The theme recognizes the incredible strength, compassion and impact that nurses demonstrate every day. At NES, our nurses Jacquelyn, Lisa, and Mary exhibit those same qualities every day and have served as nurses at NES for years. We thank them for their unrelenting commitment to caring for nearly 1,000 NES employees.
Here are a few meaningful ways to celebrate Nurses Week:
- Light up your feed – Use hashtags like #ThePowerOfNurses and #NursesLightUpTheSky to join the celebration online.
- Join an event – Attend a webinar, wellness activity, or local gathering if there’s one nearby.
- Say thanks – A card, a treat, or a kind word are all small gestures that go a long way.
Happy National Nurses Week!
