NES Gets National Award for Reliable Electric Operations

Nashville, Tenn. – Nashville Electric Service (NES) is one of only 112 of the nation’s more than 2,000 public power utilities to earn the designation of Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) from the American Public Power Association. NES received the award for demonstrating proficiency in four key areas: reliability, safety, training and system improvement. NES has applied for the award two times and received the platinum designation each time.

“Our Platinum Level designation reflects a team effort and recognizes all of the contributions that everyone makes on a daily basis,” says Paul Allen, Vice President of Operations. “Criteria within each category are based on sound business practices, and represent a utility-wide commitment to safe and reliable delivery of electricity.”

An RP3 designation is good for two years. At the end of that time, a utility must again apply for review and consideration for the award. Allen says, “We cannot get complacent with our award designation. It gets harder each year because of the ever changing nature of the industry and the standards of excellence which climb higher and higher. This award is a reflection of our commitment to our customers and to our community. It shows that we are willing to do what it takes to do the job right.”
