NASHVILLE, TN — The Nashville Electric Service (NES) Board approved a quarterly in-lieu-of-tax payment in the amount of $4,887,074 to the Metropolitan Government at its regular monthly meeting September 24, 2003. This dollar amount is an estimated quarterly payment that represents a four percent increase over NES’s current quarterly payments of $4,699,109.72.
NES is Metro’s largest tax payer.
“NES is a public utility, owned by the ratepayers, and is a valuable asset to this community,” said NES President & CEO Don Kohanski. “We are proud to do our part to support our local government. The vital service we provide – at rates that are among the lowest in the nation – contributes greatly to the quality of life we all enjoy.”
