NES Launches Spanish YouTube Channel

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nashville Electric Service (NES) is taking its energy-saving advice to the Spanish-speaking community online by becoming the first utility in the nation to launch a Spanish YouTube channel. UtiliTV en Espa–ol helps customers learn simple ways to reduce their energy usage. The YouTube channel, youtube.com/utilitvenespanol, will include short videos that demonstrate easy, energy-efficiency home improvements, conservation tips, various bill-pay methods, and NES process for restoring power after a storm. By having a social media presence in Spanish, we are able to reach a larger number of our Spanish-speaking customers with information to help them make smart, energy-saving decisions, said Laurie Parker, NES Communications Coordinator. For the past six years, NES has expanded its outreach to a rapidly growing Spanish-speaking customer base by offering sections of its website in Spanish, bilingual customer service representatives and a Spanish interactive voice-recognition system when calling NES. Along with the launch of its Spanish channel, NES will also be offering a series of new how-to videos on its main YouTube site, youtube.com/NashvilleElectric. Nashville Electric Service is one of the 12 largest public electric utilities in the nation, distributing energy to more than 360,000 customers in Middle Tennessee.
