As most anyone in Middle Tennessee already knows, we’re deep into tornado season. Tornadoes may strike quickly with little or no warning. They can appear nearly transparent until dust and debris are picked up or a cloud forms in the funnel. That’s why it’s most important to pay attention to local news and weather alerts to always be prepared.
Prior to a storm, NES reminds you to:
- Learn how to shut off gas, water and electricity to your home in the event of an emergency. This could make a world of difference in reducing the overall damage.
- Assume downed lines are live and report them to 911 immediately. Bright blue- or green-colored flashes near the ground can indicate snapped power lines, though these signs are not always prevalent.
