Several schools across Nashville Electric Service’s (NES) territory have been awarded funding that will allow schools to create new robotics programs or enhance existing ones. The program was made possible through the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and Bicentennial Volunteers, Inc. (BVI), and provides. a total of $655,000 in robotics awards to 179 schools and non-profit organizations that serve youth across the TVA region.
The following schools within the NES service area will receive funding:
- ADROIT
- Aventura Community School
- Ellis Middle School
- Hendersonville High School
- Hillsboro High School
- Madison Creek Elementary School
- Stratford High School
- White Creek High School
NES consistently connects with students through resources and programs like School Uplift, internships, mentorships, school visits, career fairs, community events and more.
“One of the many ways Nashville Electric Service remains connected to community is through education,” says Brent Baker, Executive Vice President and Chief Operations and Innovation Officer at NES. “This program with TVA and BVI is just another opportunity for us to make a positive impact on the educational experience of students throughout our service area.”
This is the first year for the robotics awards program, which is similar to TVA and BVI’s long-standing STEM awards. Any school or non-profit that receives their power from a local power company served by TVA was eligible to apply. For a full list of robotics award winners, visit tva.com/robotics.
