This past year, NES lineworkers have once again shown what dedication looks like—responding in every season, through long hours and challenging conditions, to keep our community powered and safe. Their commitment is seen not only in the work they do, but in the pride, skill and care they bring to serving our customers every day. We are deeply grateful for the tireless, daily efforts of our exceptional NES lineworkers keeping Music City energized. Happy National Lineworker Appreciation Day!
July 10 is National Lineworker Appreciation Day, honoring the nation’s electrical lineworkers. These dedicated professionals work around the clock in dangerous conditions following hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes and winter storms to ensure communities have electricity.
While celebrated on various days historically, a 2019 House of Representatives resolution officially designated July 10 as National Lineworker Appreciation Day. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), the Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA) and the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) observe this date to honor the IBEW’s first president, Henry Miller, who suffered a fatal fall from a utility pole on July 10, 1896.
