Honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month with NES

NES is proud to recognize October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, honoring the strength and resilience of patients and families affected by this disease. To show our support, the NES dome will be lit pink throughout the month, and employees will wear pink to raise awareness.

Breast cancer, which can affect both men and women, is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women after skin cancer. The American Cancer Society reports that one in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with it in their lifetime. While over 4 million breast cancer survivors are living in the U.S. today, it remains the second-leading cause of death among women.

Fortunately, advancements in early detection have significantly increased survival rates. When breast cancer is caught in its earliest stages, the 5-year survival rate is 99%. Early detection is key and includes performing monthly self-exams, along with scheduling regular clinical exams and mammograms.

This cause is personal for many NES employees who have had friends or family members affected by breast cancer.
