NES Celebrates Public Power Week

This week, October 5-11, Nashville Electric Service (NES) is proud to join utilities across the country in celebrating Public Power Week! It’s a special opportunity to highlight what it means to be a community-owned utility based in Nashville and how we work hard for you, our neighbors who live in Nashville and the surrounding area.

As your public power provider, our mission is simple: to deliver safe, reliable and low-cost electricity. We get our power from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), the nation’s largest public power provider, helping us serve more than 470,000 customers across Middle Tennessee.

Because we are Nashville, we understand what’s important to you. The NES employees who work every day to keep Nashville powered are your neighbors, family members and friends — that’s what the public power model is all about. Our not-for-profit structure means we can focus entirely on our community, not shareholders. That’s why keeping things affordable is a core commitment. Across the country, public power customers paid an average of 13% less for electricity in 2025 compared to those served by private utilities. We’re dedicated to maintaining that value for you.

We are here for you with a wide range of resources designed to help you manage your energy usage and bills:

We’re proud to be a part of this tradition and to power our community. Join us in celebrating by using the hashtag #PublicPowerWeek on social media!
