NES linemen recently participated in the 2025 American Public Power Association (APPA) Lineworkers Rodeo, held in Roseville, California. Family members and several NES team members traveled from Music City to show their support for our talented linemen as they showcased their skills and safety knowledge. Two of our teams had perfect performances, a feat only six other teams accomplished.
NES linemen were among 61 journeyman teams and 115 apprentices who all competed for awards. More than 50 utilities had competitors in the apprentice and/or journeyman competitions from not-for-profit, community-owned electric utilities across the nation. This elite competition is the ultimate arena for lineworkers to showcase their skills, safety expertise and dedication to the trade. There are two levels of competition within the rodeo: journeyman and apprentice. The journeyman teams consist of three members—two climbers and a ground person—and can include an optional alternate. Events are judged based on safety, work practices, neatness, ability, equipment handling and timely event completion.
NES is beyond proud of our linemen who participated in this rigorous competition. Their involvement in this rodeo is exemplary of their commitment to a craft that keeps the Greater Nashville area powered.
