NES Recognized as Tree Line USA Utility for 16th Consecutive Year

For the 16th consecutive year, NES was recognized as a Tree Line USA Utility. Since 2009, the utility has received this recognition for its quality tree care, annual worker training and public education programs. This honor is given to utilities that demonstrate their commitment to providing safe, efficient service while protecting and preserving community trees.

Brent Baker, Vice President and Chief Customer and Innovation Officer, attended Nashville Arbor Day to receive the honor on the utility’s behalf. Nashville Arbor Day raises awareness about the importance of our green spaces and encourages everyone to take action in preserving and expanding them.

Since our Tree Planting program began in 1989, NES has planted more than 65,000 trees and has contributed to thousands of plantings in the greater Nashville area through our corporate partnerships with local advocacy groups like Nashville Tree Foundation, Cumberland River Compact and Nashville Tree Conservation Corps.

Planting trees is important but it’s critical to ensure you plant the right tree in the right place. Planting the right tree in the right place helps prevent outages caused by limbs growing into power lines, and reduces the need for tree trimming in the future. Before planting, NES encourages customers to call 811 to learn where underground lines, pipes and cables are buried in their yards.

NES is grateful for this recognition and is committed to ensuring the reliability of electricity and the integrity of our trees!
