Ways to “Go Green” for St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated globally, honoring Irish heritage and culture through vibrant festivities, parades, and green-themed events. Beyond wearing green, NES is promoting an eco-friendly twist by encouraging customers to “Go Green” this St. Patrick’s Day. By engaging with various programs and utilizing the utility’s clean energy resources, individuals can contribute to a more environmentally friendly celebration. Below are some ways you can join in and “Go Green” this St. Patrick’s Day:

Home Uplift

A joint initiative between the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and NES, the Home Uplift program provides energy efficiency and weatherization home upgrades to qualified, limited-income families who cannot afford renovations on their own, saving them energy and utility costs and improving their overall quality of life. Click here to apply.

Music City Solar
With Music City Solar, you can enjoy the benefits of clean energy even if you don’t own your home or if your rooftop is shaded. When you subscribe to one (or more) solar panels, you receive credit for the power generated by the panels on your electric bill each month. Log into your NES MyAccount and click on “My Solar” under Quick Links or visit gosolarmusiccity.com to learn more.

EV incentives

Did you know that there are financial incentives for electric vehicles? Several rebate and credit programs exist to save eco-conscious drivers money on clean vehicles and their equipment. The NES EV Program makes the transition easy, so you can save money in the long run and contribute to a lasting environmental impact. For more information on incentives, click here.

Green Switch
Small changes can add up too. Our Green Switch program allows all customers to purchase renewable energy for as little as $2 a month. Each $2 ensures that 200 kilowatt hours of clean, renewable energy is added to the Tennessee Valley Authority’s (TVA) electricity mix. Contact Customer Relations to join, or visit the Renewable Energy page on the NES website.

Green Connect
If you’re considering a solar installation at your home, Green Connect provides you with access to educational materials and a network of TVA-approved contractors to choose from to install your system. Go to the Renewable Energy page on the NES website to learn more.

Usage Calculators

There are a variety of management tools that NES offers customers, allowing them to see how much power different devices and appliances are using around the home. NES has online calculators for heat pumps, space heaters, lighting fixtures, televisions and even electric vehicles. Click here to begin calculating your usage.
