The American Public Power Association (APPA) has granted NES with its Smart Energy Provider (SEP) designation. The SEP designation recognizes public power utilities for their leadership in four areas:
- Smart Energy Information
- Energy Efficiency and Distributed Energy Resources
- Environmental and Sustainability Programs
- Communication, Education and Customer Experience.
This honor reflects NES’ commitment to proficiency in energy efficiency, distributed generation, and environmental initiatives that support the goal of providing safe, reliable, low-cost and sustainable electric service.
“We are honored to be recognized as a utility at the cutting edge of smart energy best practices,” said Brent Baker, Vice President and Chief Customer Innovation Officer at NES. “This SEP designation represents our dedication to offering programs that keep our power affordable, support energy efficiency in our community and reduce our environmental impact.”
NES was presented the designation in October of last year during APPA’s annual Customer Connections Conference in Louisville, Kentucky. This is the sixth year APPA has given this designation to utilities, and the SEP designation will be valid for three years, from December 1st, 2024 to November 30th, 2027.
