Ten Metro Nashville Public School (MNPS) students recently graduated from NES’ operations internship program. The program was created out of NES’ desire to source talent from its local community and empower Nashville’s workforce.
The internship graduation ceremony began with an introduction from Teresa Broyles-Aplin, NES President & Chief Executive Officer, followed by remarks from Dr. Trish Holliday, Chief People Officer at NES. Employees from departments like Transmission & Distribution Operations and Underground also spoke on the performance and successes of the graduating class. The ceremony ended with all interns receiving a program certificate of completion.
The operations internship program focuses on the skilled crafts of the electric trade. Each of our interns is evaluated and given feedback throughout the rotation, and have peer mentors who guide them throughout the duration of the program. Our interns learn various parts of the job, like appropriate functions of overhead and underground aspects of the job, including safety knowledge and use of tools and equipment.
All 2023 MNPS NES intern graduates were offered full-time employment with the utility, including benefits. We are so proud of our interns and are ecstatic to welcome them to the NES family!
