NES Employee hosts 2nd Annual Fitness Crawl to help fight breast cancer

Rashed Fakhruddin, Engineering Supervisor at NES, is continuing his fight against breast cancer with another fundraising initiative. Rashed has been selected as an ambassador for Nashville’s Real Men Wear Pink campaign along with 45 other male community leaders who are working to raise funds to support the American Cancer Society.

For Rashed, cancer is personal. He lost his brother-in-law to lung cancer, and his older cousin and mentor is currently battling breast cancer. He believes that through fundraisers like this, organizations like the American Cancer Society can further the work they are doing to help those impacted by cancer.

“Every day, the American Cancer Society is saving more lives from breast cancer than ever before. They’re helping people take steps to reduce their risk of breast cancer or find it early, when it’s easier to treat,” he says. “They provide free information and services when and where people need it. They fund groundbreaking breast cancer research and they’re working to ensure access to mammograms for women who need them.”

To raise money, Fakhruddin is hosting his 2nd annual Fitness Crawl with events scheduled across Nashville throughout the month of October. Below are the participating studios that will host a Real Men Wear Pink benefit class:

In addition to his commitment to Real Men Wear Pink, Rashed is engaged with other causes that impact women such as Amend Together, where he serves on the Board of Directors. Amend Together is an initiative of YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee dedicated to ending violence against women and girls by engaging men and boys to change the culture that supports violence. Fakhruddin is also the Director of Community Partnerships at the Islamic Center of Nashville.
