NES Crews Assist in Storm Recovery

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nashville Electric Service (NES) has dispatched four crews to Huntsville, AL, to help restore power to the less than 6,000 customers still in the dark following severe weather that passed through the area last night. Crews will leave the Donelson Service Center this evening between 5 and 5:30 p.m. for the drive to Huntsville. NES officials are not sure how long it will take to complete repairs to the Huntsville system. Many of the outages are isolated which will increase the amount of time it takes to complete the restoration effort. This was an extremely powerful weather system that went through the Huntsville area causing severe damage over much of its service area. Currently, Huntsville Utilities has 31 field teams locating, assessing and repairing damage. Nashville Electric Service is one of the 12 largest public electric utilities in the nation, distributing energy to more than 360,000 customers in Middle Tennessee.
