PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT IN THE REAL WORLD

Maplewood High School students aren’t just thinking about the future. They’re practicing for success in the real world with the help of Nashville Electric Service (NES).

For the fourth year in a row, NES employees have conducted mock interviews with students enrolled in Maplewood’s Academy of Energy & Power. The experience allows students to sharpen their interviewing skills in a non-threatening environment and better prepare for career opportunities after graduation.

“We are proud of what the Academy is doing and how it translates to successful students and maybe even future utility workers one day,” said Brad Heck, an NES operations manager and frequent volunteer at the school.

NES partners with the Academy throughout the year to create course materials and mentor teachers. The relationship also allows students interested in the energy industry to experience job shadowing and internship openings.
