Overnight Outage Planned to Repair Substation

Nashville, Tenn. – Nashville Electric Service will cut power to a portion of downtown customers overnight tonight in order to make repairs to the Central Substation (1st Avenue North). The outage will take place at midnight and power will be out for approximately two to three hours. On Thursday afternoon at 2:35 p.m., NES lost power to a portion of the Central Substation, which services the downtown area. One circuit was affected due to equipment failure. NES crews were able to isolate the problem and temporarily restore service to all customers within about an hour. However, power will need to be shut off overnight tonight in order to make permanent repairs to the substation. The area encompasses James Robertson Parkway from 1st Avenue to 6th Avenue North and the area south of the State Capital down to Church Street.
