TMEPA 2025 Annual Meeting Honors NES Employees

Please join us in congratulating Laura Smith on receiving the Power of Excellence Award, and Leonard Leech on being named Public Power Employee of the Year at the Tennessee Municipal Electric Power Association (TMEPA) 2025 Annual Meeting.

Nashville Electric Service (NES) celebrates Leonard Leech being named Public Power Employee of the Year, honoring his extraordinary 60-year career. Starting in 1964 as a Design Engineer, Leonard became Manager of Planning and Control Engineering, overseeing crucial projects and leading the utility’s technological transformation. His visionary leadership and dedication make him a truly deserving recipient. 

NES also celebrates  Laura Smith receiving the Power of Excellence Award, honoring her 30-year career in public power. As Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel, Laura oversees vital functions for one of the nation’s largest municipal electric utilities. Her extensive involvement with industry organizations and community non-profits, combined with her ability to bridge legal and operational responsibilities, makes her a cherished leader at NES.
