Nashville, Tenn. – Nashville Electric Service crews successfully repaired equipment overnight at the Central Substation (1st Avenue North), which services the downtown area. Power was out for about an hour beginning at midnight. Customers in the area of James Robertson Parkway from 1st Avenue to 6th Avenue North and the area south of the State Capital down to Church Street were affected. On Thursday afternoon at 2:35 p.m., NES lost power to a portion of the Central Substation. One circuit was affected due to equipment failure. NES crews were able to isolate the problem and temporarily restore service to all customers within about an hour. However, power needed to be shut off overnight in order to make permanent repairs to the substation. NES crews still working in that area today are performing routine maintenance.
