Students with the 4-H program learn about Energy Efficiency from NES

NES Energy Services engineer Kenny Boyd recently visited Tennessee State University’s Agriculture Center with Metro Nashville Public School students to teach them about energy efficiency. Boyd spoke to a group of 15 students ranging from 4th graders to 8th graders. The energy efficiency class was offered through the Davidson County 4-H STEM Program.

4-H is a youth development organization that helps tomorrow’s leaders reach their full potential and creates a world in which youth and adults learn, grow and work together as catalysts for positive change. The organization develops and implements educational programs, events and activities that focus on helping students gain knowledge, develop practical skills, live healthy lives, make intelligent career choices and form positive attitudes—all values young people will need to forge a successful career path. Some specific focus areas of the 4-H program are science, citizenship and leadership, and healthy lifestyles. The Davidson County 4H program is run in partnership with University of Tennessee and Tennessee State University.

NES is committed to engaging with members of its community, including students interested in learning STEM education or pursuing careers in the utility industry.
