Students learn about NES at Pennington Elementary Careers on Wheels event

Students at Pennington Elementary School in Donelson recently learned about careers in the utility industry from NES employees at their Careers on Wheels event. NES employees Lance Southworth and Bill Hing were present to talk to students about the impact of electricity, electrical safety and their roles at the utility.

Students had the chance to ask employees questions and teachers were able to go up in an NES bucket truck with a lineman. In addition to learning about careers at NES, students heard from employees with Emberton House Call Veterinary Clinic, Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, Tennessee National Guard, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and the McGavock High School Aviation Student Drone Team. Aside from the bucket truck, there were horses, a mobile veterinarian setup, a drone, a police vehicle and a robot for students to interact with.

Earlier this year, NES attended its very first Careers on Wheels event at Mount View Elementary in Antioch. Careers on Wheels introduces students to several careers that involve vehicles. NES employees were honored to speak with Pennington Elementary students about the energy industry and we remain dedicated to connecting with students across our service area to educate them about opportunities in our field.

Special thanks to Pennington Elementary students and staff for welcoming us to their Careers on Wheels event!
