Several schools across NES’ service territory have been awarded STEM grants by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). These grants will aid in developing science, technology, engineering and math education projects to help spark student interest in future careers in STEM-related fields. The following schools in our service area have been awarded:
- Davidson Academy
- Gene Brown Elementary
- Glencliff Elementary School
- Haywood Elementary School
- Hillsboro High School
- John Overton High School
- KIPP Collegiate High School
- Paragon Mills Elementary School
- Stratford STEM Magnet High School
- Thomas Edison Elementary
- Tom Joy Elementary
- Whitsitt Elementary School
This year, 647 STEM grant applications were submitted and 342 schools across the TVA region were awarded a record-breaking $1.5M total in grants that will help develop science, technology, engineering, and math education projects across the Tennessee Valley region. As a result, more than 130,000 students will benefit from the program’s funding.
Since 2018, the TVA has provided nearly $8 million in STEM grants supporting over 730,000 students. Grants are awarded to meet the diverse needs of local communities in both rural and urban areas throughout the region. Schools that are awarded grants must receive their power from a local power company served by TVA. All grants are made possible in partnership with Bicentennial Volunteers, Inc., a TVA retiree organization. A full list of grant recipients and information on how to apply for a future STEM grant can be found here.
Congratulations to all schools awarded a TVA STEM grant for the 2024-2025 school year!
