National Drive Electric Month, September 12–October 12, 2025, is a nationwide celebration to raise awareness of the many benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid cars, trucks, motorcycles and more!
Nashville Electric Service (NES) is currently supporting an initiative led by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Transportation and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), to bring 200,000 electric vehicles (EV) to the state by 2028.
As a leading hub for EV production, Tennessee ranks third in the U.S. and is a leader in the Southeast for EV manufacturing jobs. The state has attracted billions in investment and is actively expanding its charging infrastructure. This growth is expected to bring a $120 million economic benefit to Tennessee, while consumers could save an estimated $200 million per year on fuel costs.
Have you ever considered switching to an EV? If so, here are some benefits of driving an EV:
- Instant torque allows you to quickly speed up and safely merge onto the freeway.
- You’ll pay less to charge your vehicle than to fill up your tank.
- EVs offer the same features and functionality as comparable conventional options, including driver assist lane tracking, emergency braking and WiFi-enabled updates.
- Less maintenance is required over the lifetime of an EV; less moving parts means there are fewer pieces to care for.
- EVs are ten times less likely to catch fire than conventional cars.
- Less air pollution emitted from the tailpipe means they’re better for the health of the people and environment in our region.
