As part of this commitment, NES employees recently visited Jere Baxter Middle School to participate in the school’s Career Day, an event that highlights its STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) program. NES employees spoke with students about their professions, offering valuable insights into various roles within the utility. They covered essential topics, including the educational pathways required for a career at NES, opportunities for advancement and a look into what a typical day entails.
Employees also shared personal stories, including their most rewarding experiences and the challenges they have faced on the job. While students learned about roles like a lineman, they also had the chance to explore other career fields at the event, such as media, marketing, cosmetology, transportation, education, real estate, general contracting and landscaping.
This event is just one of the ways NES is dedicated to supporting academic success and personal growth in Nashville’s schools by exposing students to potential career opportunities in the community. NES is constantly working to introduce the next generation to the wide range of career paths available in the utility industry.
