Nashville Streetlight Retrofit Project Update

We’re excited to share that the Nashville Streetlight Retrofit Project, launched in 2024, is moving
full speed ahead and is even ahead of schedule! This ambitious project is truly transforming our
city. We’ve already upgraded nearly 30,000 streetlights to energy-efficient LEDs, bringing us
much closer to our goal of 55,000 LED lights. This means enhanced safety, greater energy
efficiency, and significant cost savings for our community.

The Nashville Streetlight Retrofit Project is already delivering significant benefits! As of June,
the Nashville Department of Transportation (NDOT) has saved an impressive 1,507,819
kilowatt-hours (kWh) and a remarkable $128,869. You can see the difference: before, roadways
were dimly lit with yellowish shadows, but now, a consistent, brighter light creates a safer
Nashville.

In a collaborative effort, NES is working alongside NDOT, PATH, and the Mayor’s Office to
deliver brighter streets, reduced emissions, and significant cost savings through this project.
