NASHVILLE, TN — Jason A. Wheeler of Hume Fogg High School has been awarded a $4,000 college scholarship from TVA and Nashville Electric Service through the TVA Power Distributors Scholarship Program.
One of 25 scholarship winners chosen from 128 applicants, Jason has a 4.0 grade point average and plans to attend Vanderbilt University. Jason is the son of Carol Ann Wheeler and Wendell K. Wheeler, both of whom are employees of Nashville Electric Service.
TVA and the 158 distributors of TVA power created the scholarship program in 1995 for the children of distributors’ employees to encourage students to excel and to recognize the strength of the partnerships between TVA and distributors of TVA power. The program has provided $432,000 in scholarships to 125 graduating high school seniors over the past eight years. Scholarship recipients are selected by a panel of college professors from across the Tennessee Valley.
