After Winter Storm Fern, NES is creating more space between trees and power lines to reduce preventable outages. Stay vigilant and keep in mind that you may see crews in your area trimming trees and vegetation near power line corridors. This proactive work keeps your lights on and our community safe, especially during storms.
NES has strengthened its Vegetation Management program following Winter Storm Fern to reduce the risk of future storm-related outages for our 460,000 customers.
What You Should Know
- Expanded Clearance: We’ve expanded clearances between poles and power line corridors to 15 feet from the ground up, not just at the wire level.
- Planned Outages: For safety, there may be brief, temporary outages while crews complete this work.
- Tree Removal: If a tree cannot be safely trimmed to maintain proper clearance, it may need to be removed.
What To Expect
- Crew Locations: NES crews or authorized contractors will be working near roads, sidewalks and utility easements.
- Neighborhood Impact: You may notice temporary noise, equipment and minor traffic adjustments.
