NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Nashville Electric Service’s (NES) Power Board assembled today for their monthly meeting to discuss topics relative to the utility’s progress in various areas, such as the power board’s feedback on the recent rate increase imposed by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), the utility’s annual customer satisfaction survey results, the central substation construction update and highlights from the President’s Report. The Tennessee Valley Authority gave a breakdown of how revenue from rate increases would be allocated for the fiscal year of 2024-2025. Once the breakdown was delivered, board members gave feedback on the how rate increases impact customers.
The board also reviewed results from the 2024 customer service satisfaction survey, an annual survey the utility offers to all its customers to review its overall performance from a customer perspective. Based on this year’s results, NES continues to perform strongly in delivering power and adequate customer service. NES scored an overall satisfaction ranking of 83% and customers gave NES high marks for the following attributes:
- Providing power safely – 89%
- Well prepared for storms/emergencies – 82% (7% increase over last year)
- Going above and beyond in emergency situations – 81% (7% increase over last year)
- Uses technology to improve the customer experience – 80% (9% increase over last year)
The board also discussed the latest construction developments on NES’ Central Substation replacement project. The existing Central Substation currently provides power to approximately one-third of the downtown area, and the new development includes installing approximately 10,000 feet of new transmission and distribution duct banks and will provide greater reliability and resiliency.
