Each year, the Academies of Nashville hosts an award ceremony to honor many of the partners and leaders who help make the academies a success. This year, both Nashville Electric Serve (NES) and Rashed Fakhruddin, an Engineering Supervisor at NES, were recognized for their dedication to the mentorship of Metro students.
Nominated by Pearl-Cohn High School, Fakhruddin and NES received an award for Mobilizing to Meet Student Need. Fakhruddin serves as the co-chair for the school’s advisory board and implemented an initiative that increased minority representation for students of color. As a result of his work, Pearl-Cohn was able to host a diversity panel and even received donations from the panelists for extracurricular programs.
The award was announced during the virtual ceremony, while Fakhruddin accepted it in-person at Pearl-Cohn High School.
