CUSTOMERS RANK NES A 2017 ENVIRONMENTAL CHAMPION

In celebration of Earth Day, Nashville Electric Service (NES) is proud to be one of 40 utilities in the country recognized as a 2017 Environmental Champion.This designation is based on a nationwide residential customer study released by Cogent Reports™, a division of Market Strategies International.

“Earth Day is a great time to acknowledge companies that have shown dedication to the environment,” said Chris Oberle, senior vice president at Market Strategies International. “This is particularly important for utilities like NES, as their customers are saying that environmental stewardship is one of the most desirable utility brand traits.”

The study scores an Environmental Dedication Index based on five critical attributes. These ratings provide a key performance benchmark for utilities.

NES leads the way among utilities in the Valley in energy-efficiency program participation such as Green Power Switch, Green Power Providers, Do-It-Yourself Energy Audits, Energy Right Solutions for Business and eScore. As a result, our customers saved more than 26 million kilowatt hours (kWh) last year alone.

NES also supports low-emission vehicles, such as our first-ever hybrid electric bucket truck and plug-in hybrid electric light-duty pickup truck, 133 light-duty flex fuel vehicles, which are capable of running on E85 ethanol and unleaded fuels, and three 100 percent electric Nissan Leaf cars.

Alternative vehicle technologies now make up nearly 60 percent of passenger cars and light-duty vehicles operated daily by NES.
