ROOSTING BIRDS FLY THE COOP AT NES SUBSTATION

Nashville Electric Service (NES) is working to make sure birds do not come home to roost at its Pennington Bend Substation. Crews will be using a loud sound cannon to disrupt their nesting pattern and scare the birds away.

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8, and for the next several weeks, NES will sound off the cannon around 8 a.m. and again at approximately 6 p.m. By using the cannon, which makes a loud noise similar to firecrackers, NES is proactively trying to prevent potential power outages as a result of the roosting birds.

Customers have not experienced any recent outages because of the increased number of birds at the substation. This effort should help prevent any future problems.
