NES Recognized for Groundbreaking Demand Response Program

NES received the UTC Apex award for its innovative voltage control program put in place to assist TVA with meeting financial and reliability goals. Faced with rising costs of wholesale power and reduction in TVA’s available generating capacity, NES utilized voltage reduction to reduce energy demand without impacting customers. Since April 2011, NES has operated its voltage reduction to account for over $5.3M in avoided wholesale demand charges. The Utilities Telecom Council is a global trade association that supports and promotes the telecommunications and IT needs of utilities.
