To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, you can wear green, or you can really get in the spirit and go green by becoming a part of Music City Solar.
Music City Solar is Nashville’s first community solar array, giving NES customers access to sustainable, maintenance-free solar energy. NES broke ground on the solar park on March 5, answering our customers’ call for more green energy.
Located along I-65 near TriStar Skyline Medical Center, the community solar array consists of 17,020 panels that are expected to produce an estimated 55 million kilowatt-hours of green energy over the project’s lifetime.
A 20-year subscription to one solar panel costs $215, plus applicable taxes and fees. Once the park begins generating power, which is expected to be this summer, you’ll receive an energy credit on your electric bill each month for 20 years.
You can also help others get in the green spirit by giving green. Become a “solar angel” and provide energy and weatherization assistance to low-income customers by making a one-time, tax-deductible donation to The Community Foundation. Or donate subscriptions to friends or family.
By subscribing to a panel, you help bring cleaner, greener energy to Nashville’s energy supply. You’ll be able to see just how much electricity your panel produces in real time, and even if you move, you can easily transfer your subscription and energy credits to your new NES account.
In order to go green, you must sign up. Log in to your account at NESPower.com and click on the “subscribe” link under Music City Solar. Follow prompts from there to join. And don’t wait. Panels are expected to go quickly. Once they are sold out, NES will offer a waiting list for panel subscriptions at anticipated future solar parks.
